Passive Fire Protection (PFP) refers to coatings and materials applied to structural steel to enhance its fire resistance and maintain its load-bearing capacity in the event of a fire. Unlike active fire protection (such as sprinklers or alarms), PFP does not require activation—it works automatically by insulating the steel and slowing down heat transfer.
